About Christopher

Welcome to WordWheelsWrites, my writing and poetry site. As a new author, I would love you to send feedback on my writing.

I worked as a Science Teacher in various locations across NSW including Broken Hill before switching to writing full time. My short stories and poems have been published in the Summer Writing Competition (USA), two award-wining poems in the Hunter Writers Centre contests and a short story titled The Ice Against the Heart in Anthology Volume 2 published by the Hunter Writers. I am currently publishing a novel set in Australia, Poland, Germany and Japan. It is titled The Formula of Memory and will be released on Amazon in October 2025 both in paperback and ebook format. I live with wife Namira, my daughter and my granddaughter on the mid-north coast of NSW, Australia.

My philosophy

Why WordWheels? Everything turns. I didn’t understand this until I was riding a bicycle around the world with a group of passionate young people fighting the “nuclear beast”. As a young activist, I didn’t know what I was passionate about. Now, writing is my passion. I believe in the power of words to change people’s way of thinking, then it’s up to them to change that into actions.

You do not write your life with words, the monster said. You write it with actions.

Patrick Ness – A Monster Calls

Even by writing a one line poem, you are acting on your thoughts. I’m currently publishing a novel, In terms of difficulty, I reckon it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done so far. Forget raising three kids and one grandchild, forget standing in front of a class of intimidating schoolkids throwing things (at you), writing a novel tops all those. I’ll give you a small snippet here:

As they sat there, some in three coats, others four pairs of socks, waiting, Ulrich heard a susurrus that rose as the wind picked up leaves and hurled them into the air.

How do memories feel? The above excerpt is from a scene at Auschwitz, the Nazi concentration camp. Ulrich is one of the characters. I’m haunted by memories (and images) from the Holocaust. I believe that my fundamental duty is to stop something like that from ever happening again. That’s why my writing often includes reference to the Holocaust. Remember, actions, not thoughts.
